nostalgia

Nostalgia is a funny thing. No one really knows how and when it comes into effect.

Not everyone is fond of remembering what happened to them in the past, due the very effect it could have on them by making them sad or happy. It's because of the unexpected outcome that we decline to give it the opportunity to come and invade our mental privacy. Especially if we have just broken up from a long term relationship whilst trying to forget about our ex-partner.

That's looking at it from the negative point of view, though.

While on the other hand, it gives you the opportunity to remember the happy golden days when you used to be a child or had a favorite past moment and wish you could just relive it all over again and sense that feeling all over again.

It brings a smile to one's face. And a feeling that could possibly melt the coldest of hearts.

The most profound of feelings to come after love.

is it really the best feeling after love? now is the feeling of love the best feeling ever? ;)

nostos: returning
algos: pain

Nostalgia was first known to be a disiese.. soldiers used to "suffer" from this a lot.. they used to develop sickness due to the fact that they used to miss their home countries and the people they knew there.. it faded from a disease to a ........ thought?

returning home.. is our past memories the home of all our other memories?

sometimes i feel that the happy memories where drawn on dry sand.. stayed there for a while until by time the wind and everything else made it disappear..!!

but here i am looking at it from "the negative point of view" ;)

enjoy the smiles you have after being "nostalgiatic" ;)

mashallah. Interesting piece of information. Thank you very much, as I never knew all that info.

As to your question on whether Nostalgia really is the best feeling after love; yes, it is. Because, in my opinion, nostalgia is the closest you will ever get to knowing love and that is based on 'it's better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all'. For only a person who has been in love before will know what nostalgia feels like but in a bad way. Whereas the ones who have never experienced it, will come to feel the loneliness it feels to be in love; to share their feelings with someone they trust.

It all really depends on how you look at it.
